It’s hard to imagine going on holiday nowadays and returning without any photos. However, tourists will need to ditch the camera in several destinations, including a top attraction in the UK.
Crown Jewels, Tower of London
The Tower of London is top of the list for many tourists travelling to the Big Smoke for a city break.
But while they can catch a glimpse of the Tower’s precious Crown Jewels, they won’t be able to take a photo home with them.
A spokesperson for ParrotPrint.com said: “The precious crown jewels are kept under high security at the Jewel House in the Tower of London, with over 100 CCTV cameras and guards round the clock.”
The photography ban is in place to stop any would-be criminals using footage to spot security weaknesses around the jewels.

Eiffel Tower, Paris
The iconic landmark in the City of Lights is perhaps most beautiful at night when 20,000 lightbulbs set it alight with sparkles.
But while it’s easy to find videos on social media of the sparkling tower, it’s technically forbidden to take photos or videos of the glimmering Eiffel Tower.
The lights are reportedly classed as an artistic piece of work, making it illegal to distribute images without authorisation.
However, according to ParrotPrint it’s highly unlikely the French courts will decide to crack down on any of the tourists sharing photos of the tower on social media.
DON’T MISS
The Sistine Chapel, Vatican City
The breathtaking Sistine Chapel is the crown of the Vatican, the Pope’s official residence and top tourist attraction.
Tourists are banned from taking photos or filming inside the Chapel, due to a rule dating back to the 1980s.
Nippon TV in Japan gained exclusive rights when they funded the £3million restoration project for the Chapel.
Security is tight at the Chapel and guards are allowed to delete people’s photos if they’re caught filming.

UAE
Tourists visiting destinations in the UAE such as Dubai or Abu Dhabi need to be aware of their surroundings if they want to take photos.
It’s illegal to take pictures of Government buildings, military locations or palaces in the United Arab Emirates.
Airports also have a strict ban on photography and filming so tourists should check the rules before whipping their camera out.
Tourists could be fined if they are caught taking photos or filming in a forbidden area in the UAE.
Taj Mahal, India
India’s glorious Taj Mahal is the highlight of the country’s Golden Triangle tourist trail and top of many tourists’ lists.
While tourists are welcome to take photos of the outside of the Taj or pose on the same bench as Princess Diana, they can’t take photos inside the Taj Mahal.
As the Taj Mahal is a sacred mausoleum, it would be extremely disrespectful to take photos inside the monument.
This is also the case in many religious buildings worldwide and tourists should check rules before trying to capture a snap.

DJI has announced the release of the DJI RS 3 Mini, a compact version of the popular Pro grade DJI RS 3. The new gimbal has been released to meet the demands of the growing number of mirrorless videographers who don’t need the power or want the size of the larger RS 3.
However, don’t think that due to the size reduction, the RS 3 Mini is a lesser gimbal. DJI has stated that this new version has been designed for the pro market as well as enthusiasts and offers a lightweight travel version of the popular 3-axis gimbal stabiliser that will pack discreetly into a bag alongside a mirrorless kit.
Specification
Weight Horizontal Mode: 850g
Weight Vertical Mode: 795g
Payload: 2kg
Quick Release: Dual Postion
Screen: 1.4-inch touchscreen
Battery life: 10 hours
Charging time : 2.5 hours
Expansion port: NATO
The new RS 3 Mini offers many of the same features as the full-size RS 3, so professionals can still take advantage of many tools and accessories that they have become familiar with. At just 795g, the RS 3 Mini is 40% lighter than the RS 3 and 50% lighter than the RS 3 Pro.
As with those two other models, the RS 3 Mini comprises features including full Bluetooth connectivity that enables direct connection to the Ronin App. One of the major features of this connection is the Bluetooth shutter control that enables you to connect to compatible cameras without the need for cables.
Ease of use and control has been one of the major features that have boosted the popularity of the Ronin range of single-handed gimbal stabilisers. Once again, here, with this more compact model, DJI has ensured that, above all, usability remains a key feature.
A small but functional 1.4-inch touchscreen enables users to navigate settings, adjustments and features quickly and all controls can be quickly accessed with a single hand. Ultimately the Ronin RS 3 Mini is an ideal solution for most mirrorless filmmakers, and the price makes it an incredibly interesting proposition.
Here’s a quick rundown of the main features, and make sure you check out our Ronin RS 3 Mini review.
Key features of the Ronin RS 3 Mini:
Designed for mirrorless filmmakers, the new Ronin RS 3 Mini is capable of carrying weights of up to 2kg (4.4 LBs) and will support many of today’s most popular camera and lens combos, including Sony A7S3 + 24-70mm F2.8 GM lens, Canon EOSR5 + RF24- 70mm F2.8 STM lens or Fuji X-H2S + XF 18-55 mm F2.8-4 lens.
Powering the Ronin RS 3 Mini are a set of ultra-powerful motors that boost the performance and mark how far the technology has advanced since the release of the original Ronin S. While the balance of the camera is still important, the power of the motors and intelligent electronics is enough that the RS 3 Mini can compensate for the weight shift of many zoom lenses as they reach their maximum zoom. This helps to ensure stability in situations that would have been challenging with previous and larger iterations of single-handed gimbal stabilisers and means that there’s no need to rebalance as zooms are used.
Horizontal and vertical shooting
While traditionally, video has always been shot horizontally; vertical orientation is also required with today’s social media. The Ronin RS 3 Mini features native vertical shooting to make things easy and versatile.
The dual-layered quick-release plate is an interesting physical feature of the DJI Ronin RS 3 Mini. This enables you to attach the quick release to the vertical arm of the gimbal without the need for additional accessories. Using this dual mount, the camera’s movement isn’t limited and will give you the full reach of stabilisation that can often be limited when using more traditional vertical shooting options.
3rd Generation Stabilisation
The new RS 3 Mini marks the 3rd generation of stabilisation. While small, this is the most advanced single-handed gimbal stabiliser yet and has been designed for use by enthusiasts and professionals.
New advanced stabilisation algorithms are the same as those found in the flagship RS 3 Pro to ensure unparalleled performance whether it’s being used in standard, running, low angle or flashlight mode. DJI has worked hard at the dynamics of motion and tracking, and when tracking and switching between high and low angles, the design, mechanics and firmware have all been developed to ensure as smooth as possible footage is captured.
Some big motion features, such as full 360º rotation, have been incorporated to enable features such as vortex spin and selfie mode and assist with advanced stills photography options.
One of the issues with many single-handed gimbal stabilisers is the number of wires needed to connect the camera to the gimbal for the shutter and many option controls. Here the Ronin RS 3 Mini features full Wireless BlueTooth control for the shutter on many cameras. Once the connection has been made, the link will remain linked and ready for action every time the ronin RS 3 Mini and Camera are switched.
The wireless connection goes a step further for Sony cameras with features that enable supported digital lenses to adjust the digital zoom via the front dial and again eliminate the need for wires.
Ease of use is at the heart of the DJI Ronin RS 3 Mini, with the small 1.4-inch full-colour touch screen enabling direct control over many of the gimbals functions and features. Next to the screen is the M Mode button that enables you to switch between each of the three custom modes; alongside, this is the front dial for focusing; all of these buttons are within easy one-handed reach.
Although small, there’s a NATO port on the side of the RS 3 Mini that enables the easy attachment of many accessories from DJI or third parties such as SmallRig. These accessories include SJI’s Briefcase Handle, Fill lights and microphones.
All-day power solution
Power comes in the form of an integrated battery in the handle that provides a good 10 Hours of use and should meet the demands of most professionals. Moreover, a full charge can be obtained in just 2.5 hours.
As ever, a major part of the Ronin RS 3 Mini is the fully-features Ronin App that’s available for both iOS and Android devices. This gives you access to many additional features, including timelapse, track recording, Panorama and more Price and Availability of the DJI RS 3 Mini

81C will open a new solo fine art exhibition on Saturday, Jan. 21, in historic Charlotte Amalie. “God is a Woman, The Photographs of St. Croix’s Lia Garvey,” which features works by a young, imaginative and dynamic Virgin Islands analog film photographer. Opening reception hours are 5 p.m. to midnight, with Garvey on location at 81C. Complimentary drinks will be served.
Show Description
The exhibit features work by a young, analog film photographer producing on her own artistic terms. An alluring variety of timeless, grainy, black and white, sepia-tinged and worldly images with unique bohemian elegance and featuring powerful female subjects, the viewer cannot help but consider how long it will be before Garvey plunges into professional fashion photography.
She seems to effortlessly capture the sprezzatura and ambiance many photographers stylistically dream of. With “God is a Woman,” Garvey shares a gifted, honest eye and emerges as a most promising Virgin Islands artistic talent. — The Curators, 81C
Artist’s Statement
“Creating. Creation. Transmuting energy from one to another. Thought to material form. Oftentimes, I feel unable to explain my art. It’s a feeling. It is the explanation, the language, the words. What it means to another is the meaning. It is a perspective that resonates differently for everyone. It is the purpose of art to enlighten, to make sense out of what doesn’t. For another to find meaning in something you could not.
“I am now realizing the importance of sharing that sacred space because as we use it as an escape and method to heal, it has the power to do just the same for someone else. Why? Because we are beings that are constantly exchanging energies with each other and from this, I believe it is one of our sole purposes to help guide one another.
“Having the ability to creatively express yourself is a powerful gift that everyone is capable of, and what is even more powerful is using that gift to create a shift. A shift within a perspective that then sparks action.” — Lia Garvey
Artist Bio
Born and raised on St. Croix, Lia Garvey moved off-island at the age of 16 due to her mother’s untimely passing. Stepping away allowed her to see the island from a different perspective and instilled a way of viewing the world with a love for the earth and its abundance. Throughout her series “God Is A Woman,” she captures the beauty of the islands and its people from a new vantage point.
Event Details The exhibit will take place at 81C in historic Charlotte Amalie on Strand Gade between Waterfront and Main Street. Admission is free. Parking is available on Waterfront; complimentary beverages will be offered.

Cunard is calling on guests to find images that could form part of the exhibition, alongside never before seen imagery from the Cunard archives
The exhibition marks two centenaries – 100 years since Cunard was the first cruise line to introduce on board photographers and 100 years since the company’s first round the world voyage
SOUTHAMPTON, United Kingdom, Jan. 9, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Luxury cruise line, Cunard has announced it will be launching the Sea Views exhibition in 2023, featuring never before seen imagery from the Cunard archives, together with a selection of photos submitted by the guests and curated by photographer and filmmaker Mary McCartney.

The Sea Views exhibition will mark two key centenaries – the first being that 100 years ago, Cunard was the first cruise line to introduce an on board photographer to capture the signature moments of their guests’ voyage. The second is the 100-year anniversary of the first ever round the world cruise on Cunard’s ship Laconia.
To celebrate both of these momentous centenaries, Cunard has partnered with British photographer Mary McCartney to curate the unique exhibition of 100 images captured across their fleet of ships. With previous guests including Hollywood icons such as Elizabeth Taylor and Bing Crosby, Cunard will be opening up their archives to select photographs that showcase the glamour, grandeur and timeless style for which Cunard has become famous.
‘With over 14,000 images stored in the Cunard archives in Liverpool – the founding home port of Cunard Line – we have a wealth of memories from the 1920s to present day to choose from,’ said Siân Wilks, Cunard Archivist at the University of Liverpool Library. ‘We are extremely excited to work alongside Mary McCartney to launch the Sea Views exhibition.’
In addition to the archived photos that will be exhibited, Cunard is calling on the guests to share any photographs they may have collected over the years when travelling on board a Cunard ship, capturing special moments, amazing views and unique experiences. All images shared will be reviewed, with selected images to be part of this rare, centennial exhibition.
‘I’m pleased to curate an exhibition within this treasure trove of 100 years of on board photography. I’m looking forward to exploring the archives and the crowdsourced images to hand pick a portfolio of iconic images that will reflect a century of luxury travel,’ said British photographer, Mary McCartney
‘We’re extremely proud of Cunard’s 183-year history and particularly of the fact we pioneered the round-the-world voyage 100 years ago. What better way to celebrate this centenary anniversary than by curating a fantastic selection of images from our guests who’ve travelled with us. We’re delighted to be working with the wonderful Mary McCartney to create this exhibition and can’t wait to see the unforgettable moments that our guests have captured over the years,’ said Sture Myrmell, Cunard President.
To find out how you can submit your favourite moment captured on board a Cunard ship, visit and submit your images by 5 February 2023. The centennial Sea Views exhibition will go live in 2023 and more information will be shared on this webpage nearer to the time.\
